Injectables – Sittard
Our faces change as we age. We develop wrinkles, lose volume, and our facial contours may change. Many people will eventually notice that they feel younger than they look. Injectables help restore volume where needed and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Pairing this with a skin rejuvenation procedure can help you look as youthful as you feel.
Function
Injectables can be divided into two categories. Fillers restore volume in areas affected by aging. Hollow cheeks, downturned corners of the mouth, and weak jawlines can be restored by adding volume. These treatments take into account the overall appearance of your face, not just isolated areas. A liquid facelift tightens and tones the entire face. All treatments are carried out with extreme care, to reduce the risk of bruising. Botulinum toxin, also known as botox, relaxes muscles and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and chin acne may cause damage in the long term by placing constant, unintentional pressure on the skin. A botox treatment relaxes the muscles, giving you a more friendly look and a fresher complexion. Botox is also used for medical purposes.
Application
Treating facial wrinkles depends on the underlying problem. Sometimes it is just a few superficial wrinkles, others have more advanced ageing in which the subcutaneous layer has begun to sag. In this first case, it is important to examine whether the wrinkles have been caused by underlying muscles or, for example, gravity. In general, wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), forehead and between the eyebrows (frown lines) are caused by excessive muscle action combined with ageing skin which has lost some of its elasticity. A wrinkle treatment with botox is generally enough to make these wrinkles disappear. In the second case, the treatment is more extensive. It is often necessary to address the underlying problem. This means that, with the help of injectables, a lifting effect is realised (liquid facelift). This often already has an effect on the wrinkles to be treated. When this is not the case, a further supplement treatment of the individual wrinkles can be performed at the same time or at a later date.
Before treatment
The doctor will explain the treatment options to you, as well as the intended result, the advantages, and the risks. You will also complete a medical questionnaire. Please fill in this questionnaire as accurately as possible. Your medical condition may influence the treatment process and the results. For example:
- Certain medications that you are currently taking or have recently taken may enhance or reduce the effects of fillers.
- If you had permanent fillers in the past, the risk of complications after a subsequent treatment will be higher, even if you opt for a product with a temporary effect.
You will also be asked to read and sign a consent form. Signing this form authorizes Kliniek aan de Maas to proceed with the injectable treatment.
Duration
Your face will be wiped with an antibacterial solution to prevent infections. The filler will then be injected using microscopic needles. The procedure itself takes 15-60 minutes.
Results
The results of most fillers are visible immediately, the results of Botox aren’t, they appear after 2 weeks. The effects from injectables last from 3 to 24 months, depending on the injectable used and the injection location. Some fillers last two to three years. Collagen stimulators create extra volume in the months following treatment. For more info about a treatment, please see the specific page.
Safety
This treatment has been used for decades and has been proven to be safe when performed by a practitioner with the appropriate knowledge and experience.
Pain
Please keep in mind that an injectable procedure can cause mild discomfort.
