Blood vessel removal with IPL
Visible blood vessels in the face or on the legs can make you feel bad about your appearance, and they can even be painful. A laser or IPL treatment is a safe method of removing these blood vessels. The blood vessels are visible because they have become wider. When this occurs in the face, this is also called rosacea. In the legs, this is called spider veins.
Kliniek aan de Maas is specialized in removing small blood vessels with laser or IPL. All treatments are performed in the safest possible way and with the best quality materials. Our employees are continuously trained to maintain their knowledge and skills. You have questions about a treatment? Make an appointment and ask your questions in a free consultation.
Function
Small blood vessels can be treated efficiently with IPL. The energy emitted during IPL treatment is absorbed by the haemoglobin (which is what makes the blood vessels red). This destroys the blood vessels, and they are reabsorbed by the body.
Application
IPL removes small red blood vessels on the face and the rest of the body.
Before treatment
Before treatment starts, an initial appointment is scheduled, free of charge, to determine the areas to be treated and the treatment method. You will also be informed about the care before and after the treatment concerned. Avoid extra blood circulation in the face for three days before and seven days after the treatment. Extra blood circulation in the face can be caused by:
- Exercise
- Using a sauna
- Drinking alcohol
- Great exertion
- Skin peels or scrubs
In addition, do not go out into the sun without using sun protection from six weeks before treatment until six weeks after the last treatment.
Aftercare
Straight after the treatment, the skin may be a little red and irritated. This sensation will disappear after a few hours. The treated blood vessels also usually become darker after the treatment, and therefore more visible. However, this is a good sign – it means the treatment has worked well. The blood vessels will disappear after a few days. After the treatment, you can cool the treated area, but this is not necessary – it won’t affect the result.
Duration
The duration of the treatment is 5-30 minutes and depends on the amount of vessels to be treated.
Results
The result of one treatment can be seen after a few days. On average, three treatments are required. More extensive rosacea may require more treatments. At least three weeks are required between treatments. The treated blood vessels will not come back, but over time new patches of rosacea or spider veins may develop. Sun protection is therefore very important.
Safety
This treatment has been used for decades and has been proven to be safe when performed by a practitioner with the appropriate knowledge and experience.
Pain
The blood vessels to be removed are treated with IPL. The treatment is not painless, but it is easily bearable.
